My Story
Background
Just a few years ago, I was going through menopause and believed I was handling the transition smoothly…when everything hit me at once.
As a health coach, I was confident I knew plenty about hormones, menopause, health, and fitness. Oh I soon realized I had much to learn. I developed symptoms I brushed aside as just aging, not realizing they were related to menopause.
I now know that menopause is a time of stress in the body, especially when compounded by other life stressors. Menopause can really take a toll on your health, mood, and your life. Trust me, I know how it feels. Right in the middle of my menopause, I faced divorce, losing my job, the death of two beloved pets, some friends, and much of my support system. As if that weren’t enough, I also suffered a severe ankle fracture and was unable to walk for months.
After two surgeries, medications, and subsequent infections, I lost the slim, fit body I once had. I was now overweight, weak, tired, and in pain. The deep sleep I once enjoyed was now interrupted by nightly hot flashes and an urgent need to run to the toilet. My sex drive pretty much disappeared, and the vaginal thinning made it impossible anyway.
If that weren’t enough, my hair was rapidly thinning, my skin became extremely dry, joints were hurting, I had no energy, and I started to feel old seemingly overnight. The most troubling symptom was my difficulty concentrating, as my once sharp mind became fuzzy and forgetful.
I never imagined being middle-aged and single, losing my career and the body I once enjoyed. How would I be able to date and find a new career at my age and in the state my body and mind were in?
It’s easy to fall into depression and feel like your best years are behind you. That’s when I decided I was not going to accept this situation. I searched for a good doctor who actually understood menopause and I took charge of my health. I decided it was my time to enjoy life. I had worked hard all my life with very little time for myself.
Now it was MY TIME!
My Adventure
Determined to live my best life, I made some major changes.
If you think you have too many obstacles in your way to pursue your dreams, I get it. I understand obstacles.
I left my home, bought a campervan, started a new career online, and set off to see the country…by myself. Even though at the start of my journey, I was overweight and could barely walk, I was determined not to let that stop me from going on my adventure. And what an adventure it was! Along the way, I studied hormonal health and learned everything I could about menopause. I lost 20 pounds, my hair grew back, my skin improved, and my energy levels bounced back.
Now I live a life I never even dreamed was possible. I turned my passion for travel into this website and a podcast which I hope will inspire other women to follow their passion too.
I feel better now than I did 20 years ago!
I am dedicated to helping other women navigate this stage of life and reclaim their health, energy, and vitality. I did it and I know you can too!
